iOS 17 Release Date & Time: What You Need to Know is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

If you’re curious about the iOS 17 release date for iPhone, allow us to guide you through everything you need to know about it right now.

Apple’s confirmed iOS 17, the next operating system for the iPhone. The software is currently in development and it will bring new features, enhancements, and more to compatible iPhone models.

We don’t have a firm iOS 17 release date from Apple yet, but we have a pretty good idea about what to expect from the release window and release time.

Our iOS 17 release date guide we’ll help you properly manage expectations and help you prepare for its release for iPhone later on this year.

Which iPhones Will Get iOS 17?

Apple’s confirmed a full list of iOS 17 eligible iPhone models and most iOS 16-powered devices will make the move to the new operating system.

Unfortunately, three older iPhone models will stay put on iOS 16: iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus. This is final and it won’t change. Below is a list of eligible iPhones that will get upgraded to iOS 17:

iOS 17 Supported Devices

  • iPhone 14
  • iPhone 14 Plus
  • iPhone 14 Pro
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max

iOS 17 Beta Release Date

The official version of iOS 17 won’t land for awhile, but you can try the new operating system out long before the final version arrives.

There are two versions of the iOS 17 beta. There’s the developer beta and then there’s an as-of-yet unreleased beta for users registered for the Beta Software Program.

The company’s pushed the iOS 17 beta to developers while the public iOS 17 beta will arrive in July. Apple hasn’t provided a specific date.

iOS 17 Beta Release Time

Apple usually pushes new beta software every couple of weeks with releases coming a bit more frequently as we approach the final release.

Like regular iOS releases, the company likes to release new iOS beta software around 10AM Pacific and that’s what you should expect from the iOS 17 beta.

iOS 17 Release Date

The iOS 17 beta will stretch for several months. We can’t predict how many versions of the beta we’ll see, but we should see at least six updates arrive before Apple pushes the final version of the beta, also known as the Golden Master (GM).

Apple usually pushes new iOS operating systems in September and that’s what you should expect from the iOS 17 release date right now.

Look for the iOS 17 release date to get confirmed on stage during Apple’s fall iPhone event for the upcoming iPhone 15 series (iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max). The iPhone 15 series will run iOS 17 out of the box.

The iOS 17 release date for older iPhone models will land sometime between the iPhone 15 launch date and the iPhone 15 release date later on in the month.

iOS 17 Release Time

Apple probably won’t confirm a specific iOS 17 release time, but the company almost always releases its software updates around 10AM Pacific on release day.

This means if you live in London, England you should see the iOS 17 update around 6PM in the evening. If you live in Melbourne, Australia, you’ll need to stay up late or wake up early if you want to install iOS 17 right when it’s released.

Major iOS releases like iOS 17 are often plagued with download issues as Apple’s servers get slammed with requests from eager iPhone users. Those of you looking to avoid download issues and error codes should wait a few hours before installing the iOS 17 update.

Install to Help Improve Apple Improve iOS 17

Trying new features before they are officially released is exciting, but that's just part of it. Using the iOS 17 beta will also help Apple squash issues before they reach millions of iPhone users around the world.

Your feedback about the iOS 17 beta's performance could help the company discover a nasty bug or a glitch ahead of the final release later this year.

If you're sick of dealing with issues or sick of hearing friends and family complain about problems, think about giving the iOS 17 beta a try.

If you decide to download the iOS 17 beta and find an issue on board, make sure you report it to Apple. This way, engineers can get to work on a permanent fix.

5 Things to Know About the iOS 16.6 Update is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

Apple’s confirmed a new iOS 16.6 update for iPhone and the software is currently in beta testing ahead of an official release later this year.

iOS 16.6 is a milestone upgrade which means it should bring more than just bug fixes and security patches to iPhone users. It should deliver some new features as well.

Apple hasn’t confirmed the iOS 16.6 release date yet and it will likely stay in beta for the foreseeable future. If you don’t want to wait for the stable release, you can try an early version of the software on your iPhone right now.

With all of that in mind, we want to walk you through everything there is to know, right now, about the next major iOS 16 update for iPhone.

In this guide we’ll take you through the iOS 16.6 update’s known changes, what you can expect from the iOS 16.6 release date and release time, information about the iOS 16.6 beta, and more.

iOS 16.6 Beta

If you want to start using iOS 16.6 on your iPhone right now, you can.

Apple’s pushed the iOS 16.6 beta to developers which means those enrolled in the company’s developer program can download a pre-release version of the firmware right now.

The company’s also pushed the iOS 16.6 beta to those enrolled in the Beta Software Program. A developer account requires an annual fee while the Beta Software Program is free to anyone with a compatible device and working Apple ID.

Before you download the iOS 16.6 beta, note that Apple’s pre-release software is always plagued with bugs and performance issues.

These issues could impact the performance of your core apps, your iPhone’s battery life, and its overall speed which can make it tricky to use as a daily driver.

You should be able to fix some problems on your own, but some bugs and performance issues will probably require a fix from Apple down the road.

If you can’t stand the iOS 16.6 beta’s performance on your iPhone, you can downgrade back to iOS 16.5.1 or iOS 16.5. The downgrade path to other iOS firmware is closed.

Apple is currently on iOS 16.6 beta 3.

iOS 16.6 Release Date

Apple hasn’t confirmed the iOS 16.6 release date.

As of right now we expect iOS 16.6 to hit iPhones sometime in July ahead of iOS 17’s arrival in the fall. iOS 17 should arrive in September which means iOS 16.6 will almost certainly be the last major update for the iOS 16 operating system.

For more about the iOS 16.6 release date, check out our guide.

iOS 16.6 Release Time

We don’t have an official iOS 16.6 release date yet, but we know exactly when Apple will roll the software out on the date it chooses.

The official version of iOS 16.6 will most likely arrive in and around 10AM Pacific. It sometimes takes a few minutes for iOS updates to show up so there’s no need to worry if you don’t see new software right away.

Apple will also release iOS 16.6 beta updates for developers, and those enrolled in the Beta Software Program, around 10AM Pacific as well. The company typically releases new betas every 1-2 weeks.

Keep this timeline in mind if you plan to install new iOS 16.6 betas, or the official version of iOS 16.6, right away.

iOS 16.6 Features

Apple’s milestone updates (x.x) almost always bring new features, enhancements, security patches, and bug fixes to iPhone users and that’s what you should get from iOS 16.6.

Developers are digging through the iOS 16.6 beta right now and they’ve found one potential change on board: iMessage Contact Key Verification.

Apple could add to, or subtract, features from the iOS 16.6 beta as testing progresses and we’ll let you know if there are differences between the beta and the final release.

iOS 16.6 Jailbreak

If you still jailbreak, make sure you avoid the iOS 16.6 beta.

Developers have released a new jailbreak that works with iOS 15.0-iOS 16.2. Unfortunately, the jailbreak doesn’t work with iOS 16.6 and it’s only compatible with the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus.

We’ll let you know if that changes.

The feature also resets system privacy permissions for apps and restricts Messages and FaceTime to the device on hand.

Apple's also made some improvements to Passkeys in Safari. iOS 16 brings a brand new sign-in method that's end-to-end encrypted and safe from phishing and data leaks.

iOS 16.6 Release Date: Tips & Tricks is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

The iOS 16.6 release date is likely weeks away, but some iPhone users might want to start preparing for the software’s arrival right now.

iOS 16.6 is Apple’s sixth milestone update for its iOS 16 operating system and it should bring a mix of new features and under-the-hood improvements to iPhone.

Apple’s pushed iOS 16.6 into beta testing which means developers, and those enrolled in the company’s public Beta Software Program, can download it right now. The Beta Software Program is free to anyone with a compatible device and Apple ID.

As of right now, we expect the iOS 16.6 release date to land in July given that Apple’s currently on its third version of the iOS 16.6 beta.

With the iOS 16.6 release date inching closer, it’s time to start preparing for its arrival. In this guide we’ll outline some tips and tricks that will come in handy as we close in on the iOS 16.6 release date for iPhone.

Prepare for the iOS 16.6 Release Date

If you plan on installing the iOS 16.6 update right away, you should use this time to prepare yourself, and your device, for the installation.

iOS 16.6 will likely require a fairly large download. If you don’t have enough storage available on your iPhone, iOS will temporarily remove downloadable parts of applications installed on your phone. This may not be enough and you’ll then be forced to manually delete files.

If you’re running out of internal storage, do some cleanup. Go into your iPhone’s storage and delete files (photos, apps, etc) you no longer need. This will help make room for the firmware. There’s a chance it improves your iPhone’s overall performance as well.

Data loss issues are fairly rare, but you’ll definitely want to err on the side of caution and backup all of your data before you move your iPhone from iOS 15 to iOS 16 or the current version of iOS 16 to iOS 16.6.

If you want to install iOS 16.6 when it arrives, your iPhone will need a solid charge. Make sure your phone has at least a 50% charge or find a charger.

Finally, make sure you have your Apple ID and other logins handy. There’s always a chance the installation logs you out of apps and services so you’ll want to have those on hand so you can get right back to using them.

Get Familiar with iOS 16.6 & Older Updates

You should get familiar with iOS 16.6 before downloading the final release. This way, you won’t be caught off-guard by the changes on board.

We’ve released a guide that will walk you through all of the known changes on board iOS 16.6. Again, the update should bring a mix of new features, bug fixes, and security patches to iPhone users.

We’ve also released a detailed iOS 16 guide that will take you through many of the latest changes on board the current version of the operating system.

Most People Should Avoid the iOS 16.6 Beta

Installing the iOS 16.6 beta on your iPhone might be tempting, but most people should avoid the beta and wait for the stable release.

Beta software helps Apple fix bugs and performance issues before they become major headaches for millions of iPhone users around the world. And while it’s fun to try out new features before they’re released to the public, iOS beta software can be extremely problematic.

The iOS 16.6 beta is causing problems for some testers and you could run into some of the very same issues if you decide to install it on your iPhone.

While you might be able to fix some issues on your own, other bugs and performance issues will require a fix from Apple down the road.

If you rely on your device to get through a day of school or work, you’ll want to stay put on whatever version of iOS your device was currently running.

Monitor Feedback from the iOS 16.6 Beta

Make sure you monitor feedback from iOS 16.6 beta testers as we push toward the official release.

Monitoring feedback will alert you to potential iOS 16.6 problems and it will also reveal the possible benefits of Apple’s new software. More importantly, it might help you decide if you want to install iOS 16.6 right away or wait a little bit for the smoke to clear.

We’ve seen iOS 16.6 beta feedback emerge on sites like YouTube, Twitter, and the MacRumors forums so check those sites if you’re curious about the software’s performance.

iOS 16.6 Release Time

If you’ve owned an iPhone for a long time there’s a good chance you already know this. For those of you who are new to the iPhone and iOS, here’s your PSA.

Apple typically pushes its iOS software updates out in and around 10AM Pacific. That will likely be the case for the final version of iOS 16.6.

We sometimes see iOS updates roll out 5-10 minutes after 10AM so there’s no need to panic if the software doesn’t popup in your iPhone’s Settings app right away.

Here’s what that looks like for other time zones in the United States:

  • Eastern – 1 PM
  • Central – 12 PM
  • Mountain – 11AM

Keep all of this in mind if you plan to install the final version of iOS 16.6 right away.

iOS 16.6 Download Size

We don’t know how big the iOS 16.6 download will be, but you can expect it to be pretty sizable. Milestone upgrades typically require a significant chunk of space.

You can expect long download times, especially right after Apple pushes the software live. The installation process could take quite a bit of time as well.

Once you pull iOS 16.6 from Apple’s servers, you might notice a prompt asking you to “Install” the software right now or “Later.” While most of you will probably want to install it right away, others might benefit from scheduling the installation.

If you do decide to schedule it, you can choose to install it while you’re sleeping or you can have your device remind you to install it at a later date when you’ve got some free time.

If you do decide to install the iOS 16.6 update overnight, you’ll have to plug your iPhone into a power source.

Prepare for iOS 16.6 Problems

iOS 16.6 will go through an extensive beta process, but the final version won’t be perfect. Far from it.

Common iOS problems include abnormal battery drain, Bluetooth issues, Wi-Fi problems, app instability, UI lag, crashes, and Exchange issues.

These problems appear after every single iOS release and there’s a good chance we’ll see them all popup immediately after iOS 16.6’s arrival.

It’ll be difficult to predict what kind of performance you’ll get from iOS 16.6 so you’ll want to make sure you’re prepared to tackle any issues you encounter on day one and beyond.

We’ve released a list of fixes for common iOS 16 problems. If you don’t consider yourself an iOS expert, you’ll want to bookmark those fixes. We’ve also released guides to fixing bad iOS 16 battery life and iOS 16 performance.

You’ll also want to bookmark or follow Apple Support on Twitter and bookmark the Apple Support page on the company’s website. You should also get familiar with Apple’s Discussion forums.

Learn How to Downgrade

If iOS 16.6 starts causing problems on your iPhone, and you can’t seem to fix the issue(s), you may have to downgrade back to older iOS software.

If you already know how to downgrade, you’re good to go. If you aren’t familiar with the downgrade process, you’ll want to get familiar with it right now. This way, you aren’t scrambling if iOS 16.6 starts acting up on your iPhone.

For more on the downgrade process, have a look at our walkthrough.

Keep Your Apps Updated

If you want the best experience, make sure you keep your apps updated as we approach the iOS 16.6 release date.

Once we get close to the official release, developers will start to roll out support updates. These updates will help stabilize the operating system’s performance and help your device make a smooth transition to new software.

Before you download an app update, make sure you read reviews from users. These reviews will alert you to potential benefits and problems with the latest version.

Take Your Time Installing iOS 16.6

iOS 16.6 is an exciting upgrade and some of you might be tempted to install Apple’s new update right when it drops.

For some of you, particularly users dealing with iOS 16 problems, this might be the best decision. That said, some of you will be better off waiting a few hours, a few days or, in some cases, a few weeks before installing iOS 16.6 on your iPhone.

There are plenty of reasons to skip new iOS software updates on day one. For one, they can wreak havoc on your device’s performance.

Avoid iOS 16.6 If You’re Jailbroken

Avoid the iOS 16.6 update, and beta, if you still jailbreak your phone.

Developers have released a new jailbreak that works with iOS 15.0-iOS 16.2. Unfortunately, the jailbreak doesn’t work with iOS 16.6 yet and it’s only compatible with the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus.

Here’s How Long the iOS 15.7.7 Update Takes is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

Apple’s iOS 15.7.7 update is a small maintenance upgrade, but it could take quite a bit of time to install on your iPhone.

If you’re moving your iPhone from iOS 15.7.6 to iOS 15.7.7, you get the shortest list of changes and the smallest download size. If you’re upgrading from an older version of iOS, your iOS 15.7.7 download could be much larger because the changes from the update(s) you skipped are baked in.

While some of you might want to skip the iOS 15.7.7 download for the time being, most people should install the software right now or at some point in the near future.

If you decide to install iOS 15.7.7 on your iPhone, you’ll want to set aside some time to get the upgrade properly installed on your device.

Moving a device from one version of iOS to another often causes problems so you’ll want to monitor the download, the installation, and your phone’s performance once the installation is complete.

We can’t tell you exactly how long the process will take because it will vary. That said, we can help you approximate how much time you should set aside should you choose to install the new software on your iPhone.

TaskTime
Sync (Optional)5-45 Minutes
Backup and Transfer (Optional)1-30 Minutes
iOS 15.7.7 Download5 Minutes to 15 Minutes
iOS 15.7.7 Installation7 Minutes to 12 Minutes
Total iOS 15.7.7 Update Time12 Minutes to 1 Hour+

Pre-Installation

Before you start the iOS 15.7.7 download make sure you’re prepared.

If you don’t know how to properly prepare for an iOS upgrade, take a look at our pre-installation guide. It’ll walk you through the most important steps to take before you start the installation process.

You should be able to get through these steps in 30 minutes, but it all depends on your skill level and the current state of your iPhone.

If you haven’t backed up your data in awhile or if you aren’t familiar with iOS 15.7.7’s changes, the pre-installation process could take you a longer.

You don’t need to follow every single step in the guide, but at the very least you’ll want to make sure your phone’s data is backed up properly.

Data loss issues are pretty rare, but if you store sensitive data (photos, videos, etc) on your device, it’s always better to err on the side of caution.

iOS 15.7.7 Download

Once you’ve prepared, it’s time to start the download process.

Again, the exact size of your iOS 15.7.7 download will depend on your iPhone model and the version of iOS it’s currently running.

If your iPhone is currently running iOS 15.7.6 you’ll, again, see the smallest download size. If you’re running an older version, your download could be larger.

If you’re on a fast Wi-Fi network, the download should finish up in less than 10 minutes. If your connection is slower, or you’re downloading during peak hours, you might be looking at 10 minutes or more.

iOS 15.7.7 Installation

Once your device is done pulling iOS 15.7.7 from Apple’s servers, the installation process will begin. This could take longer than the download.

If you’re moving up from iOS 15.7.6, the iOS 15.7.7 installation should take 10 minutes or less to complete. It took about eight minutes to install on an iPhone 7 that was previously running iOS 15.7.6.

Your iPhone might reboot itself a couple of times during the installation process, but this is perfectly normal. Your device should boot up normally once the installation process completes.

Post-Installation

After the installation finishes up, you might need to spend time logging into your iCloud account and signing into your device’s various apps and services.

You also might want to spend some time checking your important data (photos, music, etc) to make sure everything carried over properly.

After you do that, make sure you test your core applications and services to ensure they’re working normally. New iOS software can cause apps to go haywire. If you notice an issue with one or more of your apps, try downloading the latest version.

You’ll also want to poke around your phone for bugs and performance issues. If you notice something take a look at our list of fixes for common iOS 15 problems.

If you want to install Apple’s new iOS 15.7.7 update, there are some steps you should take before moving your iPhone from iOS 14 to iOS 15 or your current version of iOS 15 to iOS 15.7.7.

Apple’s pushed a new iOS 15.7.7 update to iPhone users and it’s available to download right now. The software brings some important changes to iPhone models that weren’t eligible for iOS 16.

If your iPhone is currently running iOS 15.7.6, you get the shortest change log. If you’re moving from an older version of iOS, your iOS 15.7.7 update will be more substantial. That’s because the changes from the iOS updates you skipped are baked into your upgrade.

iOS 15.7.7 is an important upgrade and most iPhone users should install the software in the near future. That being said, it’s difficult to predict how Apple’s new software will impact your iPhone’s performance.

While some of you could see a boost to your iPhone’s performance, others will run into frustrating bugs and performance issues. And this is precisely why it’s important to do some prep work before you start the installation. A little work ahead of time could help you avoid serious problems.

With that in mind, we want to help you prepare for the transition from iOS 14 to iOS 15 or your current version of iOS 15 to iOS 15.7.7. This guide will take you step-by-step through the process we use before we tap install.

Backup Your Data

Backup Your Data

This step is extremely important. If you don't have a ton of time to devote to the pre-installation process, make sure you do this.

A lot of you already know how to properly backup your iPhone's data (photos, videos, etc), but if you're unsure, we've got you covered.

Some of you will want to backup using Apple's iCloud service. It's an easy way to ensure your important files are safe. If you're unfamiliar with the iCloud backup process, you'll want to check out Apple's guide.

If you don't want to use iCloud, you can backup your files using iTunes. If you're running macOS Ventura, macOS Monterey, macOS Big Sur or macOS Catalina, you'll need to use Finder, not iTunes.

If you store a lot of data on your iPhone, the backup process could take awhile to complete so you'll need to remain patient.

Data loss issues are fairly rare, but don't take your chances.

Apple’s iOS 15.7.7 update could have a huge impact on your iPhone’s performance. While most users should install the firmware right now, others are better off waiting a few hours or perhaps even a few more days before upgrading from older iOS software.

iOS 15.7.7 is the latest iOS 15 upgrade for iPhone and it’s available to download right now if you own an iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, or iPhone 7 Plus. The software’s not available for newer iPhones.

The iOS 15.7.7 update is a minor release, but it brings important security patches to these iPhone models. It doesn’t have any new features or bug fixes on board.

The software update requires a fairly small download. That being said, it could be fairly large for those of you moving up from older versions of iOS. That’s because the features and fixes from any updates you skipped are baked into your version of iOS 15.7.7.

Those of you dealing with issues on older versions of iOS could see a huge turnaround after installing iOS 15.7.7. We’re hearing about positive changes. That being said, we’re also hearing about various bugs and performance problems.

If you move your iPhone to iOS 15.7.7, and you can’t stand its performance, note that you can downgrade to older iOS software. Apple’s currently signing on iOS 15.7.6. You can’t downgrade to software older than iOS 15.7.6.

This means those of you having a great experience on iOS 15.7.5 and older need to approach the iOS 15.7.7 update with a sense of caution. Once you move your iPhone to the latest software, there’s no going back.

With all of that mind mind, if you’re currently debating a move to iOS 15.7.7, allow us to walk you through the best reasons to install the software today and the best reasons to hang around on your current version of iOS for a little bit longer.

Problems have slipped into the latest iOS 15 update for iPhone.

Apple continues to refine iOS 15 with software updates and the company’s latest release, iOS 15.7.7, brings important security patches to iPhone users.

Some iPhone owners are noticing a huge difference after moving their device up from older versions of iOS 15. We’ve seen positive feedback about Apple’s latest firmware.

On the flip side, some iPhone users have run into bugs and performance issues. Some of these issues have carried over from iOS 15.7.6 and older versions of iOS 15 while some are brand new.

In this guide to iOS 15 problems we’ll take you through the current state of these issues. We’ll show you where to find potential fixes for the most common iOS 15 problems and provide you with some resources that should help if you run into trouble.

We’ll also touch on the state of the iOS downgrade and outline what you can expect from Apple and iOS down the road.

iOS 15 Problems

We’re currently seeing complaints about abnormal battery drain, UI lag, AirPlay issues, Touch ID issues, issues with first and third-party apps, iMessage issues, Wi-Fi problems, various issues with Siri, issues with Location Services, Bluetooth problems, CarPlay issues, lockups, freezes, and crashes.

We expect the list of iOS 15.7.7 problems to grow as more people transition from older firmware to Apple’s latest version of iOS 15.

If you haven’t downloaded the latest version of iOS 15 yet, we recommend preparing your iPhone for the download. Some prep work ahead of time can help you avoid major headaches.

We’ve put together a step-by-step pre-installation process and it will take you through the best way to prepare for the move.

Where to Find iOS 15 Reviews

If you’re currently running iOS 15.7.7 on your iPhone, or if you’re planning to upgrade, you’ll want to sift through feedback from those who have made the move. This feedback will alert you to potential problems and performance issues others are having on the same iPhone model.

We’ve released our list of reasons to, and not to, install the iOS 15.7.7 update and it’s a good starting point for those of you weighing a move from older software to the latest version.

We also recommend keeping an eye on YouTube, Apple’s discussion forums, social media sites like Twitter and Facebook, and the MacRumors forums for additional feedback about the latest version of iOS 15.

How to Fix iOS 15 Problems

Some issues might require a fix from Apple, but you may be able to fix others on your own.

Before you get in contact with Apple support, have a look at our list of fixes for the most common iOS problems. It might have a fix that works for you.

We’ve also released some tips that could help you improve your device’s performance and a guide that shows you how to fix iOS battery life problems. If you’re running into severe battery drain issues on iOS 15, have a look at those.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for in our guides, you should head on over to Apple’s discussion forums. If they can’t help you, you might want to get in contact with Apple Support via Twitter or customer support via Apple’s website.

If you still can’t fix your issue(s), you might want to schedule an appointment to see a Genius at your local Apple Store. They should be able to diagnose your problem.

iOS 15 Downgrade Status

If you run into bugs or performance issues on iOS 15, you can try downgrading your iPhone’s software in an effort to improve its performance. That is, if the option is available. Currently, it is.

Apple’s signing on iOS 15.7.6 which means you can move your iPhone’s software back to the previous version of iOS 15 in an effort to improve its performance.

Unfortunately, the company isn’t signing on iOS 15.7.5, iOS 15.7.4, iOS 15.7.3, iOS 15.7.2, iOS 15.7.1, iOS 15.7, iOS 15.6.1, iOS 15.6, iOS 15.5, iOS 15.4.1, iOS 15.4, iOS 15.3.1, iOS 15.3, iOS 15.2.1, iOS 15.2, iOS 15.1.1, iOS 15.1, iOS 15.0.2, iOS 15.0.1, or iOS 15.0 so there’s no way to get back to those updates.

For more about how the downgrade process works, take a look at our walkthrough.

What’s Next

Apple might push additional versions of iOS 15 in 2023, but that hasn’t been confirmed.

The company has stopped pushing iOS 15 updates to devices that are eligible for the iOS 16 upgrade. So if you own an iPhone 8 or newer, you won’t get additional versions of iOS 15 down the road.

Apple’s released its iOS 16 operating system and the software is currently available to download right now if you own a compatible iPhone model. The iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus will all remain on iOS 15.

For more about the iOS 16 update, take a look at our guide. It goes over the best reasons to, and not to, move your iPhone from iOS 15 to iOS 16.

How to Downgrade from iOS 15.7.7 to iOS 15.7.6 is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

This is how to go back to iOS 15.7.6 from iOS 15.7.7.

If you run into problems on iOS 15.7.7, and you think moving your iPhone back to the previous version of iOS 15 could help, this guide will help you downgrade.

You can only go back to iOS 15.7.6. You can’t go back further than that. The path back to iOS 15.7.5 and below is closed and it won’t re-open.

It’s also worth noting that you can’t downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14. Initially it looked like Apple would let iPhone users stay on iOS 14 and continue to receive security updates and, perhaps, bug fixes for lingering issues. Unfortunately, those plans have changed.

Apple hasn’t pushed a new version of iOS 14 in awhile and the most recent version of iOS 14 is gone. Devices running iOS 14.8 and below can only move to the latest version of iOS 15.

This is important because it means there probably won’t be a way to downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14 moving forward. The only way this happens is if Apple releases a new version of iOS 14.

Once you downgrade, you can only restore a backup that you made on iOS 15.7.6 so keep that in mind in case you need to restore a backup.

Most users will have a recent backup, but you may lose some items if you aren’t regularly backing up your photos and messages to iCloud.

While this isn’t officially supported, it is easy to do and you don’t lose any support or mess with your iPhone’s warranty.

How to Downgrade from iOS 15.7.7 to iOS 15.7.6

Here’s what you need to do to go back to iOS 15.7.6 on your iPhone. While you are downgrading you cannot use your phone so you will need to open this on your computer or another device.

If you made an archived backup, you can use that after you restore it. If you are doing this right after the iOS 15.7.7 release, you might have a iOS 15.7.6 backup available on iCloud or your computer.

Follow these steps to go back to iOS 15.7.6 from iOS 15.7.7:

  • Download the iOS 15.7.6 update for your iPhone from this website.
  • Make sure there is still a green checkmark next to the update’s name. If there is not one, do not proceed.
  • Turn off Find My iPhone on your iPhone. Go to Settings -> tap on your name at the top of settings -> Tap on your Name at the top -> Tap on Find My iPhone -> Toggle off and Enter your password.
  • With your phone backed up and all the steps above completed, plug your iPhone into your computer.
  • Now, Open iTunes and Click on the iPhone icon.
This is how this process works if you are still on macOS Mojave. If you’ve already upgraded to macOS Ventura, macOS Monterey, macOS Catalina or macOS Big Sur, you will need to start this process in Finder. Instead of opening iTunes, open Finder and click on your iPhone in the left side.

  • Click on the Restore iPhone button using a special click. On a Mac, hold alt/option when you click. On PC, hold Shift when you click.
  • In the window that opens, find the iOS 15.7.6 file you just downloaded and click on it and then click open.
  • Choose to erase and restore your iPhoneClick Restore to begin this process
  • While you wait the iPhone will restart multiple times. When it is finished you will be back on iOS 15.7.6.

This process takes a little while to complete. When it does, you can start fresh or restore a backup made on iOS 15.7.6. Most people will want to install a backup.

iOS 15.7.7 is compatible with older iPhone models that didn’t move to iOS 16. It’s a list that includes the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus.

The iOS 15.7.7 update is another point upgrade and it patches up security issues. It doesn’t have any known bug fixes or features on board.

With that in mind, we want to take you through everything you need to know about Apple’s latest and greatest iOS 15 update for iPhone.

In this guide we’ll take you through iOS 15.7.7’s changes, its performance, its problems, the iOS 15 jailbreak status, and more. We’ll start with some thoughts about iOS 15.7.7’s performance.

iOS 15.7.7 Review

The iOS 15.7.7 download requires a small chunk of space on your iPhone’s internal storage. Most people won’t have to make room for the software. The download should only take a few minutes to complete,

As for the iOS 15.7.7 installation process, it should take 10 minutes or less to complete. It took just about eight minutes to install on an iPhone 7.

We’ve been using iOS 15.7.7 on an iPhone 7 for a very short time and here’s what we’ve learned about the software’s performance thus far.

Battery Life & Connectivity

  • Battery life is stable right now and we haven’t noticed any abnormal drain.
  • Wi-Fi connectivity is fast and reliable.
  • Bluetooth is working normally.
  • GPS and cellular data are also stable.

App Performance

  • Third-party apps including Netflix, Twitter, Slack, Asana, Gmail, Chrome, and Spotify are all working fine at the moment.

If you need help making a decision, check out our reasons to, and not to, install the iOS 15.7.7 update on your iPhone right now.

iOS 15.7.7 Problems

iOS 15.7.7 is already causing problems for some iPhone users. Some problems are brand new, others have carried over from older versions of the operating system.

The current list of iOS 15 problems includes abnormal battery drain, Wi-Fi problems, Bluetooth issues, issues with Touch ID, and problems with various first and third-party apps.

If you run into a problem on iOS 15.7.7, take a look at our list of fixes for the most common iOS 15 problems. We’ve also released some tips that could help you improve your phone’s performance and some tips that could help you fix bad iOS 15 battery life.

Apple’s currently signing on iOS 15.7.6 which means you can move your iPhone’s software back to the previous version if iOS 15.7.7 starts causing issues. You can’t downgrade to anything older than iOS 15.7.6.

For more about the downgrade process, check out our guide.

iOS 15.7.7 Features

Apple’s stopped releasing new features for iOS 15 anymore and the most recent versions of iOS 15 have all focused on patching up security issues. This is true for iOS 15.7.7.

The official change log notes that the update brings important security fixes to iPhone users and you can learn more about those over on Apple’s security site.

iOS 15.7.7 Jailbreak

Developers have released a jailbreak tool that’s compatible with iOS 15 and iOS 16, but it only works with select iPhone models.

The palera1n jailbreak is based on checkm8 and it works with all versions of iOS between iOS 15.0 and iOS 16.2. Currently, it only works with iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.

What’s Next

It’s unclear if iOS 15.7.7 will be the final version of iOS 15. Apple could choose to push additional versions of iOS 15 later this year, but that hasn’t been confirmed.

Apple won’t push additional iOS 15 upgrades to iPhone 8 and newer going forward. That being said, we could still see new iOS 15 software for the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPhone SE.

If you do run into an issue, note that you can downgrade your iPhone’s software back to iOS 16.5. That being said, the company isn’t signing on older versions of iOS.
