How to Downgrade from iOS 15.7.7 to iOS 15.7.6 is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

This is how to go back to iOS 15.7.6 from iOS 15.7.7.

If you run into problems on iOS 15.7.7, and you think moving your iPhone back to the previous version of iOS 15 could help, this guide will help you downgrade.

You can only go back to iOS 15.7.6. You can’t go back further than that. The path back to iOS 15.7.5 and below is closed and it won’t re-open.

It’s also worth noting that you can’t downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14. Initially it looked like Apple would let iPhone users stay on iOS 14 and continue to receive security updates and, perhaps, bug fixes for lingering issues. Unfortunately, those plans have changed.

Apple hasn’t pushed a new version of iOS 14 in awhile and the most recent version of iOS 14 is gone. Devices running iOS 14.8 and below can only move to the latest version of iOS 15.

This is important because it means there probably won’t be a way to downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14 moving forward. The only way this happens is if Apple releases a new version of iOS 14.

Once you downgrade, you can only restore a backup that you made on iOS 15.7.6 so keep that in mind in case you need to restore a backup.

Most users will have a recent backup, but you may lose some items if you aren’t regularly backing up your photos and messages to iCloud.

While this isn’t officially supported, it is easy to do and you don’t lose any support or mess with your iPhone’s warranty.

How to Downgrade from iOS 15.7.7 to iOS 15.7.6

Here’s what you need to do to go back to iOS 15.7.6 on your iPhone. While you are downgrading you cannot use your phone so you will need to open this on your computer or another device.

If you made an archived backup, you can use that after you restore it. If you are doing this right after the iOS 15.7.7 release, you might have a iOS 15.7.6 backup available on iCloud or your computer.

Follow these steps to go back to iOS 15.7.6 from iOS 15.7.7:

  • Download the iOS 15.7.6 update for your iPhone from this website.
  • Make sure there is still a green checkmark next to the update’s name. If there is not one, do not proceed.
  • Turn off Find My iPhone on your iPhone. Go to Settings -> tap on your name at the top of settings -> Tap on your Name at the top -> Tap on Find My iPhone -> Toggle off and Enter your password.
  • With your phone backed up and all the steps above completed, plug your iPhone into your computer.
  • Now, Open iTunes and Click on the iPhone icon.
This is how this process works if you are still on macOS Mojave. If you’ve already upgraded to macOS Ventura, macOS Monterey, macOS Catalina or macOS Big Sur, you will need to start this process in Finder. Instead of opening iTunes, open Finder and click on your iPhone in the left side.

  • Click on the Restore iPhone button using a special click. On a Mac, hold alt/option when you click. On PC, hold Shift when you click.
  • In the window that opens, find the iOS 15.7.6 file you just downloaded and click on it and then click open.
  • Choose to erase and restore your iPhoneClick Restore to begin this process
  • While you wait the iPhone will restart multiple times. When it is finished you will be back on iOS 15.7.6.

This process takes a little while to complete. When it does, you can start fresh or restore a backup made on iOS 15.7.6. Most people will want to install a backup.

Apple's updated its website with new information about iOS 15's batch of security patches. The company now says the software patched up an issue that could have exposed a user's private Apple ID information and in-app search history. It also says iOS 15 patched up an issue that allowed apps to override Privacy preferences.

If you skipped iOS 14.8 or any older versions of iOS, you'll get the security patches from those updates with your iOS 15.7.7 update as well.

In addition to those patches, iOS 15 comes with some security and privacy upgrades including improvements to Siri. Requests made to Siri are now processed on the device itself using Neural Engine. This makes it more secure.

If you're an Apple Card user, you'll now get a security code that changes regularly to use when you make online transactions.

Apple's also included a built-in authenticator that's similar to Google Authenticator. This will let you generate verification codes for enhanced sign-in security under your Passwords.

There's also a Mail feature that hides your IP address.

How to Fix iPadOS 16 Battery Life Problems is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

If you encounter iPadOS 16 battery life problems on your iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air, or iPad Pro, there are steps you should take before contacting customer service.

In the months since iPadOS 16’s release, Apple’s fixed a good number of bugs and performance issues. However, some problems, like abnormal battery drain, persist.

Battery drain is an extremely common issue. And while it might be related to your iPad’s hardware, most issues stem from the iPadOS operating system and/or an application.

If your iPad is pulling down terrible battery life, you may have the option to downgrade to more stable iPadOS 16 software. That being said, the latest software protects your tablet from harm so you should try and fix the issue yourself if you can manage.

Fixing iPadOS 16 battery life problems can prove to be tricky, but we’ve got some solutions that could come in handy. Try them before you contact Apple customer service or schedule an appointment at your local Apple Store.

Restart Your iPad

If you start noticing your iPad’s battery draining quickly, the first thing you’ll want to do is restart it. This only takes a moment and it could help iron out the issues.

Power down your device, let it sit for a minute, and then power it back on. Use it normally and keep an eye on your device’s battery life.

If you’re still running into issues, try another fix.

Update Your iPad

Apple will periodically release new iPadOS 16 software for your device. The company’s point updates (x.x.x) are usually focused on fixing bugs while milestone upgrades (x.x) typically deliver a mix of features and fixes.

The company typically doesn’t call out battery life fixes in its change logs, but there’s always a chance new iPadOS 16 software rights the ship.

If a new iPadOS 16 software update is available, dig into feedback about its performance and decide if it’s worth installing on your device. If you’re having serious issues, it probably is.

Wait It Out

If you recently installed a new software update, installed a new app, or restored from a backup, you’ll want to wait out any battery life problems you’re seeing.

When you perform these actions, power consumption can increase dramatically so you’ll want to give your iPad’s components some time to settle in.

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours before taking action. In a lot of cases, battery life will settle in and you’ll be able to use your device normally.

Check Your Apps

Applications are a main source of battery life problems so you’ll want to investigate the apps on board your iPad if you encounter abnormal battery drain.

Fortunately, checking app performance on iPadOS 16 is easy. It might only take you a few minutes to find the app, or apps, causing your headache.

  • Go to the Settings app.
  • Select Battery.
  • Head into the Battery Usage tool. This tool will show you the apps draining your iPad’s battery life and when they’re doing so.

If you use an app on your tablet a lot, it will obviously drain more battery than an app you never use. So if you see something out of the ordinary, you’ll want to continue your investigation.

If you see one or more of your apps eating up an abnormal amount of battery, try deleting the app from your device and see if that improves your iPad’s performance.

If the app is essential, we recommend downloading the latest update. Make sure you read reviews from fellow iPadOS 16 users before you do.

Turn Down Screen Brightness

If you constantly have your iPad’s screen set at maximum brightness, it’ll drain the battery. To avoid this, you should enable Auto-Brightness to help prevent battery drain.

  • Go into the Settings app.
  • Tap Accessibility.
  • Tap Display & Text Size.
  • Make sure Auto-Brightness is toggled on.

If you’d prefer to manage the screen brightness on your own, make sure you’re keeping it on a reasonable level, especially when you need to conserve battery life.

Reset All Settings

If none of the above fixes move the needle, try resetting all of your iPad’s settings.

Doing this will cause your iPad to forget known Wi-Fi networks (and Bluetooth connections) so make sure you have your passwords handy before you proceed.

Here’s how to reset all of your iPad’s settings:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Go to General.
  • Scroll and tap Transfer or Reset iPad.
  • Tap Reset.
  • Tap Reset All Settings and enter your passcode if one is enabled.

Once the process is complete, you’ll need to reconnect your iPad to your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices.

Downgrade iPadOS

If you can’t find a fix for your problem and/or don’t want to wait for Apple’s next iPadOS 16 update, you can try downgrading back to an older version of iPad. You should only do this if you’re confident your iPad was running normally on older firmware.

Your downgrade options will change over time and downgrading may not be available because Apple stops signing on older iPadOS 16 software.

For more on the downgrade process, take a look at our walkthrough.

If you skipped iOS 16.1.1, you'll get its security patches when you upgrade. You can learn more about them right here.

If you missed the iOS 16.1 update, it brought 19 security patches to the iPhone and you can learn about the particulars of those over on Apple's website.

If you failed to download iOS 16.0.3, it had one security patch on board, a fix for a potential exploit within the Mail app. For more about the fix, check out Apple's security site.

If you're still running iOS 15 your iPhone, you'll get a bunch of other patches when you upgrade.

iOS 16.0 brought a ton of security patches to the iPhone. If you're interested in the exact nature of these improvements, you can read about them over on Apple's security website.

In addition to those patches, iOS 16 brings some additional enhancements to privacy and security including Safety Check which, according to Apple, will help "people in domestic or intimate partner violence situations review and reset the access they’ve granted others."

The feature also resets system privacy permissions for apps and restricts Messages and FaceTime to the device on hand.

Apple's also made some improvements to Passkeys in Safari. iOS 16 brings a brand new sign-in method that's end-to-end encrypted and safe from phishing and data leaks.

How to Find Starfield Constellation Edition in Stock is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

If you want the Starfield Constellation edition at your house in early September, you’ll wait to keep an eye on its stock as we push into the summer.

Starfield pre-orders are live which means you can now buy Bethesda’s next RPG ahead of its release date later this year. The game is headed to the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Windows PC on September 6th though you’ll be able to play a bit earlier than that if you buy a bundle.

Remember, Starfield is exclusive to these platforms and Bethesda won’t release it for Xbox One, Sony’s PlayStation 5, or PlayStation 4.

You can start playing the game up to five days early if you buy the game’s Premium edition or Constellation edition which is Starfield’s collector’s bundle.

The Starfield Constellation edition is a $299.99 bundle and it comes with a ton of extras including a Starfield Chronomark Watch & Case. The Starfield Chronomark watch LPV6 is an item your character gets in the game and Bethesda’s brought it to life in this special bundle.

Unsurprisingly, the bundle is already hard to find. We expect retailers to provide additional stock down the road, but it will likely be up and down all the way to the release date.

If you don’t want to pay more than $299.99 for the bundle, and you manage to find it in stock, you should pre-order the bundle right away.

If you’re interested in buying the Starfield Constellation Edition, you’ll want to keep tabs on its stock in the weeks ahead. In this guide, we’ll help you do that.

How to Find Starfield Constellation Edition in Stock

Your first option is to track the Constellation Edition stock manually. Head to the bundle’s page at a retailer like Best Buy or GameStop and bookmark the page.

Make sure you check for additional stock on a regular basis. You might even want to add a shortcut in your browser for easy access.

You can also use sites like NowInStock or StockInformer to do the heavy lifting for you. NowInStock and StockInformer allow you to easily track the Constellation edition’s stock without having to visit retail websites over and over again.

To do this, head over to StockInformer’s Starfield Constellation Edition page. This page shows the bundle’s stock history at various retailers and it updates every few minutes giving you a look at its current status.

You can subscribe to set up alerts for your browser and get notified whenever stock becomes available at a retailer.

If you’d prefer to use NowInStock, head to its Starfield page. Here, you can set up alerts to get email, text or browser notification whenever the bundle is available. Here’s how to do that:

  • Register for a free account at NowInStock.
  • Check your inbox for a verification email and click the correct link to verify.
  • Go back Starfield’s NowInStock page.
  • Click Add/Manage alerts in the right corner of the screen.
  • Add an item to track it.

Once you add the bundle, you’ll see a menu where you can select to get text, email and browser alerts. These are free, unless you get carrier text message charges.

You can also check availability on resale sites like eBay and Craigslist, but you won’t be able to find the bundle for anything close to its retail price right now. We’re seeing listings in the $400-500 range.

That being said, if you’ve got money to burn and you really want the Constellation edition at your house in early September, this is a route to consider.

Pre-Order Starfield for These Bonuses

Starfield pre-orders come with some bonus items.

  • Deep Mining Pack

If you want access to these items, you'll want to pre-order a copy of the game before it arrives in early September.

Spider-Man 2 pre-orders are set to go live soon and if you want the game’s Collector’s Edition, you’ll probably want to order as soon as possible.

The Spider-Man 2 release date is set for October 20th and pre-orders are set to begin on June 16th ahead of the game’s highly anticipated arrival. As a reminder, this game is exclusive to Sony’s PS5, it won’t come to the PS4.

When Spider-Man 2 goes on sale, you’ll have to pick between three editions: a standard edition, a Digital Deluxe edition, and a Collector’s edition. Each has a different set of bonuses.

The Spider-Man 2 Collector’s edition is the most expensive bundle ($229.99), but it comes with a bunch of bonuses including a high-quality 19-inch statue featuring the Spider-Men battling Venom.

Pre-orders haven’t started yet, but we’re confident the price tag won’t scare folks away. In fact, there’s a very good chance this bundle sells out quickly.

There’s no telling how much additional stock there will be. It could remain sold out all the way up until the game’s releasee date in October. If that occurs, you probably won’t be able to find the bundle available for release day delivery for $229.99.

This is precisely while you’ll want to stay on top of the Spider-Man 2 Collector’s edition stock this week and beyond. It could help you secure the bundle and save money in the process.

How to Find Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition in Stock

Unlike the other two versions of the game, it looks like the Collector’s edition will only be available to order via PlayStation Direct in select regions.

If you live in a country that doesn’t have PlayStation Direct, Sony and Insomniac say that you’ll need to “be on the lookout for more information on how you can secure a Collector’s Edition in your region.”

Pre-orders for the bundle start at 10AM local time. If you want the Collector’s edition, we highly recommend jumping in the queue as soon as it’s live.

It’s unclear if the bundle will be sold at third-party retailers in the United States down the road. If it isn’t, and it’s looking that way, you probably won’t be able to use stock trackers like NowInStock to do the heavy lifting for you.

StockInformer, another site that tracks the stock of popular items, currently has a page live for the Collector’s edition, but we aren’t sure if it will be of any use.

Instead, you’ll have to keep an eye out for announcements regarding additional stock available through the PlayStation Direct portal. Make sure you follow social accounts like Wario64 which provide stock updates for popular games and bundles like this one.

If you miss out on a pre-order via PlayStation Direct, and you start growing impatient, you’ll be able to find stock at resellers like eBay.

Of course, if the bundle does sell out, you’ll probably have to pay a lot more than $229.99 if you want the bundle on your doorstep on October 20th.

Before you buy the Collector’s Edition on a site like eBay, make sure you dig into the sellers details to ensure you don’t get ripped off. This is a high profile game and we could see scammers try and take advantage of that.

3 Reasons to Pre-Order Spider-Man 2 & 3 Reasons to Wait

Pre-Order for These Bonuses

Pre-Order for These Bonuses

In what should come as a surprise to no one, Insomniac and Sony are throwing in some pre-order bonuses to sweeten the deal.

The pre-order bonuses come with all three versions of the game and they're all in-game bonuses. Here's what you get if you buy a copy of Spider-Man 2 before its release date.

  • Early unlock Arachknight Suit for Peter with 3 additional color variants
  • Early unlock Shadow Spider Suit for Miles with 3 additional color variants
  • Early unlock Web Grabber gadget
  • 3 skill points

The skill points in particular are a nice addition because they will give you a little bit of a head start as you progress through the game.

If you're fairly certain you plan to play, and beat, this game, you might want to put in a pre-order.

How to Play Starfield Early is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

If you’re excited about Bethesda’s Starfield, and you want to jump into the universe as soon as humanly possible, read on to find out how you can jump into the game a little bit early.

Starfield’s global release date is confirmed for September 6th. This is when the game launches on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Windows PC around the world. However, there is a way to play Starfield a few days before September 6th. It requires some extra cash and a pre-order.

If you buy the $69.99 standard version of Starfield, you’ll get some pre-order bonuses, but you won’t get early access to the game unless you buy a more expensive bundle or upgrade your order.

The most seamless way to play Starfield early is by purchasing the Premium edition or the collector’s bundle, known as the Constellation’s edition. Both of these provide you with up to five days early access to Starfield. At an added cost of course.

The Starfield Premium edition is $99.99. For that price you get the early release date in addition to some bonus items including the game’s first DLC expansion dubbed Shattered Space.

Bethesda’s Constellation edition is a whopping $299.99. For that price you get early access, the DLC, a watch that looks like the watch your character uses in the game, and much more.

There’s also another way to get early access to Starfield and it’s aimed at those who buy the Standard edition, but decide to upgrade.

If you buy the Standard edition, but decide you want the Premium edition, retailers are offering an upgrade for $34.99.

The upgrade comes with the content from the Premium edition, but if you order a physical copy of the game, you’ll also get the following items:

  • Steelbook Display Case (when purchased from participating retail stores)
  • Constellation Patch (when purchased from participating retail stores)

You won’t get these items if you buy the digital version of the Premium edition upgrade.

We should point out that while the Premium edition and Premium edition upgrade will always be available to pre-order, the Constellation edition probably won’t be. The bundle is already sold out at many retailers and it’s unclear when, or even if, they will get more stock in.

If you don’t want to spend time tracking it down and /or you simply don’t want to pay a ton of money for Starfield, the Premium edition is your best bet.

We don’t know what time the game will unlock for early access yet. Bethesda says actual play time depends on your purchase date and will be subject to possible outages and applicable time zone differences.

Look for more details to emerge as we get closer to September.

If you want the Mortal Kombat 1 Kollector’s Edition on your doorstep in September, and you don’t want to pay extra, you’ll need to keep an eye on its stock as we push toward the game’s release date.

Mortal Kombat 1 is the next game in the long-running series and it’s headed to PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. Assuming it doesn’t get delayed, it will arrive on September 19th though you can start playing on September 14th if you buy a bundle.

Retailers are currently taking pre-orders for the game and they’re offering three different editions including a Kollector’s Edition that includes some intriguing extras. The $249.99 bundle includes the following:

  • Early access starting Sept. 14
  • Early access to DLC characters
  • Kombat Pack (6 new playable Characters, 5 new Kameo characters, and Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage)
  • Liu Kang sculpture
  • Exclusive steel case
  • Limited edition COARSE art prints
  • Exclusive limited-edition Liu Kang in-game color variant
  • 2700 Dragon Krystals (in-game currency)

Unsurprisingly, the Mortal Kombat 1 Kollector’s Edition is a hot item and we’ve already seen retailers sell out of their initial stock.

If you don’t want to pay more than $249.99 for the bundle, and you manage to find it in stock, you should pre-order a copy right away.

If you’re interested in buying the Mortal Kombat 1 Kollector’s Edition, you’ll want to keep tabs on its stock in the weeks ahead. In this guide, we’ll help you do just that.

How to Find Mortal Kombat 1 Kollector’s Edition in Stock

Your first option is to track the Kollector’s Edition stock manually. Head to the bundle’s page at a retailer like AmazonBest Buy, or GameStop and bookmark the page.

Make sure you check for additional stock on a regular basis. You might even want to add a shortcut in your browser for easy access.

You can also use sites like NowInStock to do the heavy lifting for you. NowInStock allows you to easily track the Kollector Edition’s stock without having to visit retail websites over and over again.

To do this, head over to NowInStock’s Mortal Kombat 1 Kollector’s Edition page. This page shows the bundle’s stock history at various retailers and it updates every few minutes giving you a look at its current status.

If you don’t want to open up your browser every time you want to check for stock, you can set up alerts to get email, text or browser notification whenever the Kollector’s Edition is available. Here’s how to do that:

  • Register for a free account at NowInStock.
  • Check your inbox for a verification email and click the correct link to verify.
  • Go back to the Mortal Kombat 1 Kollector’s Edition NowInStock page.
  • Click Add/Manage alerts in the right corner of the screen.
  • Add an item to track it.

Once you add the bundle, you’ll see a menu where you can select to get text, email and Browser alerts. These are free unless you get carrier text message charges.

You can also check availability on resale sites like eBay and Craigslist, but you won’t be able to find the bundle for anything close to its retail price right now. That probably won’t change.

That being said, if you’ve got money to burn and you really want the Kollector’s Edition bundle at your house on September 14th, this is a route to consider.

How to Play Madden 24 Early is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

The Madden 24 release date lands on August 18th, but there are ways to play before that.

One way to play Madden 24 early is by pre-ordering a copy of the game. You’ll need to buy a specific edition and it costs a lot more than a standard copy.

If you buy the Madden 24 Deluxe edition you’ll get access to the game three days before it officially lands for console and Windows PC.

You can also play the game early if you subscribe to EA Play. The EA Play trial will likely have some limits and you should be aware of those.

In this guide we’ll tell you about those and help you start playing Madden 24 early on your platform of choice when it drops for Xbox, PlayStation, and Windows PC later this year.

Early Madden 24 Release Date

If you purchase the Madden 24 Deluxe edition or EA Play Pro edition, you get access to the game three days before its official release on August 18th.

The Madden 24 Deluxe bundle is more expensive than the standard edition so you’ll want to weigh your options before committing.

If you subscribe to EA Play, you can start playing a Madden 24 three days early as well. EA Play is $4.99 a month or $29.99 a year and it includes trials for a number of EA games. The price also includes access to the EA Play Vault of games which are full length.

EA also offers Play Pro which is $14.99 per month or $99.99 for the entire year. In order to buy the Madden 24 EA Play Pro edition, you need to be an EA Play Pro subscriber.

How to Download the Madden 24 (EA Play)

You’ll need to sign up for EA Play on your console or PC. Open up the EA Play website or EA app on your device and complete the sign up process. Again, you can choose to pay by the month or for a year.

When Madden 24 goes live in August, you can find it in the EA app right on your console or PC. Go to the Trials tab, then choose Madden 24.

On most systems you can also find the option to download the trial from the main store page, but you’ll want to make sure you’re downloading the trial, and not buying the game if you’ve already purchased it on a disc.

Madden 24 will require quite a bit of space on your device’s internal storage so you may need to free up some room in order to install it.

Madden 24 Trial Limits

If you go the EA Play route, you can only play Madden 24 for 10 hours. This lets you try out Madden 24 to see if you like the game enough to buy it.

This is not a way for you to play Madden 24 for an unlimited amount of time or replace the full version of the game.

When you finish playing the trial, you should close the game from the dashboard. This will prevent you from losing any time with it running in the background.

In the past we’ve seen users create multiple Xbox Live accounts to subscribe to EA Play on multiple accounts and play for longer than 10 hours in the past. This is expensive and we don’t recommend doing it.

3 Reasons to Pre-Order Madden 24 & 4 Reasons to Wait

Pre-Order Madden 24 for These Bonuses

Pre-Order Madden 24 for These Bonuses

If you pre-order a copy of Madden 24 for your console or Windows PC, you'll get some bonuses with your purchase.

If you pre-order a copy of the Madden 24 Standard edition, Madden 24 Deluxe edition, or the EA Play Pro edition you'll get the following items:

  • Josh Allen Elite Player Item
  • Choice of 2 Strategy Items
  • NFL Marble Bills Gear

If you pre-order the Madden 24 Deluxe edition or EA Play Pro edition by July 22nd will also receive a player item from the AKA Ultimate Team Program.

So, if you plan to invest time into Madden 24's Ultimate Team, you might want to pre-order a copy of the game today.

Unsurprisingly, iOS 17 beta testers have run into an assortment of problems with Apple’s upcoming operating system. While we can’t help you fix every single issue, we can help you fix common issues like battery drain, Wi-Fi issues and more.

The current list of iOS 17 beta problems includes some extremely common performance issues. The list includes abnormal battery drain, issues with Bluetooth, problems with first and third-party apps, and Face ID issues.

While some issues may require a fix from Apple in a new version of the iOS 17 beta, you might be able to fix some problems on your own in a matter of minutes.

In this guide we’ll take you through potential fixes for the most common iOS 17 beta problems we’ve heard about or seen on our devices.

Have a look through these potential fixes before you contact Apple customer support or take your iPhone into a store.

How to Fix iOS 17 Beta Battery Life Problems

If you encounter battery life issues after installing the iOS 17 beta on your iPhone, there are a few things you can try.

If you’re noticing extreme battery drain after installing Apple’s latest operating system, take a look at our list of fixes. They could help.

If nothing in that guide works, you might need to downgrade back to iOS 16 until Apple works the problems out in an upcoming version of the beta.

How to Fix iOS 17 Beta Freezing

If your iPhone locks up and stops responding, here’s how to get it unstuck.

In order to get your iPhone unstuck, try performing a hard reset. Here’s how to do that if you own an iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s, iPhone SE 2, or iPhone SE.

For more iOS performance fixes, check out our guide.

How to Fix iOS 17 Beta Wi-Fi Issues

If you’re noticing slow Wi-Fi speeds and/or your connection is continually dropping while running the iOS 17 beta, here are some fixes you can try.

If your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi at your house, try unplugging the router and/or modem for minute before plugging it back in.

If you can’t access the router your iPhone is connected to, or if you’re positive the issue has nothing to do with your router/modem, head into your iPhone’s Settings app.

Now, you’ll want to manually force your iPhone to forget the Wi-Fi network. Here’s how to do that:

  • In the Settings app, tap Wi-Fi.
  • Select your connection by tapping the “i” in the circle.
  • Tap Forget this Network at the top of the screen.

If this doesn’t fix the problem, try resetting your phone’s Network Settings:

  • Go to your Settings app.
  • Tap General.
  • Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  • Tap Reset.
  • Tap on Reset Network Settings.

If none of those fixes help, you’ll want to check out Apple’s guide to Wi-Fi problems.

How to Fix iOS 17 Beta Bluetooth Problems

If you’re struggling with Bluetooth issues on iOS 17 beta, here are a few potential solutions.

First, try forcing your iPhone to forget the Bluetooth connection on your iPhone. Here’s how to do that:

  • Head into your Settings.
  • Tap Bluetooth.
  • Select the connection using the “i” in the circle.
  • Tap “Forget this Device”.
  • Try reconnecting.

If that doesn’t work, try resetting your iPhone’s Network Settings:

  • Go to your Settings.
  • Tap General.
  • Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  • Tap Reset.
  • Tap on Reset Network Settings.

You can also try resetting your iPhone’s settings back to their factory defaults. Here’s how to do that:

  • Head into Settings.
  • Tap General.
  • Tap Reset.
  • Tap Reset Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  • Tap Reset.
  • Tap Reset All Settings.
  • Enter your passcode if you have one enabled.

Bluetooth issues can be difficult to fix, especially on beta software. If nothing here works, you’ll want to contact Apple, hunt for other potential fixes, or downgrade back to iOS 16.

How to Fix iOS 17 Beta App Issues

If one or more of your applications start acting up on the iOS 17 beta, here are a few things you can try.

First, try restarting your iPhone. If that doesn’t improve the app’s performance, make sure you’re running the latest version of the application. You can also try deleting the app and downloading it again.

App instability will be an issue throughout the beta process because  developers won’t update their apps with support for iOS 17 until we get much closer to the stable release in the fall. So, if you can’t find a fix, you’ll probably need to downgrade your iPhone’s software back to iOS 17.

How to Fix iOS 17 Beta Random Reboots

If your iPhone starts randomly rebooting itself, here are a few fixes to try.

First, restart your iPhone. If you’re still seeing random reboots, go ahead and update all of your applications and see if that solves the issue. If it doesn’t, you might need to have a chat with Apple’s customer service.

For more on how to fix iOS performance issues, have a look at our guide.

How to Fix iOS 17 Beta GPS Issues

If GPS starts acting up on iOS 17 beta, try restarting your iPhone before you do anything else.

If that doesn’t work, you’ll want to try toggling Airplane Mode on and off. If it’s still acting up, go into your location permissions and make sure you’re permitting the app, or apps, to use GPS. Here’s how to do that:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Privacy.
  • Tap Locations Services at the top.
  • Tap on the app in question and make sure you’re using something other than “Never.” If you have Never selected, GPS won’t work.

You can also try toggling Location Services off and on. Here’s how to do that:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Tap Privacy.
  • Tap Locations Services at the top.
  • Toggle Location Services off, wait a few seconds, and toggle it back on.

If you still can’t get GPS to work properly, try resetting your iPhone’s Network Settings:

  • Go to your Settings.
  • Tap General.
  • Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  • Tap Reset
  • Tap Reset Network Settings.

Update Your iPhone

Apple will periodically release new iOS 17 beta software. These updates are essential because they will fix lingering issues with the software.

The company may not call out general fixes (ex. a fix for Bluetooth issues) in an update’s change log, but new beta software always has the potential to help.

Downgrade

If you can’t fix your issue and you can’t wait for the next version of the iOS 17 beta, you can try downgrading your iPhone’s software back to iOS 16. Moving back to stable software will almost certainly improve your iPhone’s performance.

Install to Help Improve Apple Improve iOS 17

Trying new features before they are officially released is exciting, but that's just part of it. Using the iOS 17 beta will also help Apple squash issues before they reach millions of iPhone users around the world.

Your feedback about the iOS 17 beta's performance could help the company discover a nasty bug or a glitch ahead of the final release later this year.

If you're sick of dealing with issues or sick of hearing friends and family complain about problems, think about giving the iOS 17 beta a try.

If you decide to download the iOS 17 beta and find an issue on board, make sure you report it to Apple. This way, engineers can get to work on a permanent fix.

If you run into iOS 17 beta battery life problems on your iPhone, and you don’t want to downgrade back to iOS 16, you’ll want to try the fixes in this guide.

Battery life issues almost always impact iOS beta software so it’s not surprising to learn that some iOS 17 beta testers are running into abnormal drain on their iPhones.

In this guide we’ll take you through some potential fixes for bad iOS 17 beta battery life. The fixes we’ve listed here have worked for us, and many others, in the past and there’s a chance they will work for you as well.

Restart Your iPhone

If you start noticing excessive battery drain while running the iOS 17 beta on your iPhone, we recommend restarting your iPhone before doing anything else.

Power your iPhone down, wait a minute, and power it back on. A quick reboot can have a tremendous impact on your device’s performance.

Move to the Latest iOS 17 Beta

Apple will periodically release new iOS 17 beta software. While the company may not call out battery life fixes in an update’s change log, new beta software always has the potential to help alleviate battery life issues.

If your iPhone is running old iOS 17 beta software, and new software is available, try moving your device to the latest version.

Check Your Apps

Apps, both first and third-party, are prone to acting up on iOS beta software and there’s a good chance one or more of them are causing these issues.

Checking app performance is easy on iOS 17 beta and it should only take you a few minutes to find the culprit, if there is one. Here’s how to do this:

  • Go to the Settings app.
  • Select Battery.
  • Head into the Battery Usage tool. This tool will show you the apps draining your battery and when they’re doing so.

If you use an application a lot, it will obviously drain more battery than an app you never use. That said, if you see something that doesn’t look right, you’ll want to investigate further.

If you see an app eating up an abnormal amount of battery, try deleting the app from your device and see if that improves your  phone’s battery life.

If the app is essential to your daily routine, we recommend downloading the latest update. If that doesn’t help, and you really need to the app to get through your day, you might need to downgrade back to iOS 16.

Developers won’t update apps with support for iOS 17 until we get much closer to the public release.

Reset All Settings

If you determine your apps aren’t the source of your problem, try resetting your iPhone’s settings.

Before you do this, note that it will cause your phone to forget known Wi-Fi networks (and Bluetooth connections) so make sure you have your passwords handy before you proceed. Here’s how to do this:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Go to General.
  • Go to Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  • Tap Reset.
  • Tap Reset All Settings and enter your passcode if one is enabled.

Downgrade Back to iOS 16

If you can’t find a manual fix and/or don’t want to wait for Apple’s next iOS 17 beta, you can downgrade back to iOS 16. The downgrade option will always be available, but your downgrade options could change over time.

Unfortunately, you can only downgrade back to iOS 16.5.1 or iOS 16.5. You can’t downgrade to anything older than that because Apple has stopped longer signing on older versions of iOS.

Buy a Battery Case or Battery Bank

Buying a battery case or battery bank could help offset battery drain you encounter during the beta process.

We generally recommend going with a Mophie battery case, but Apple’s official battery cases are a great alternative if you prefer going with a first-party accessory.

If you don’t want to put a bulky case on your iPhone, you might want to buy a battery bank.

Battery banks are small, portable power sources that can give your iPhone multiple charges. There are a ton of great options out there, but Mophie’s powerstation line and Anker’s Powercore line are a few of our favorites.

If you’re having AirPods issues or if you want access to the latest features, you’ll want to update your AirPods. This guide will show you how to keep AirPods, AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2, or AirPods Max up-to-date with Apple’s latest software.

Apple periodically pushes new software to AirPods, AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods Max. The releases aren’t as frequent as iOS, iPadOS, and macOS updates, but they’re still important.

AirPods software updates typically include performance improvements and bug fixes though occasionally they’ll bring new features as well. That’s why it’s important to keep your AirPods updated with the latest firmware.

If you just bought a pair of AirPods and/or you’re unsure if you’re running the latest AirPods software, read on.

How to Update AirPods or AirPods Pro

Before you update your AirPods it might be a good idea to dig into feedback from users running the latest software. You can search sites like Apple’s forums, YouTube and Twitter for information about features, bugs, and performance issues.

If a lot of the feedback is negative, you might want to hold off and wait for Apple to release a new update. The releases are fairly sporadic, but you can expect a few updates throughout the year.

If you want to proceed with the upgrade process, here’s what you need to do.

  1. Put your AirPods or AirPods Pro inside their case.
  2. Make sure the case is connected to a power source. You can use the Lightning to USB cable or you can use wireless charging if you’ve got a pair of AirPods Pro and a compatible charger.
  3. Grab your iPhone or iPad and make sure it has an internet connection.
  4. Make sure your AirPods are paired with your iPhone or iPad and then bring the device close to the charging case.

Now you just need to wait a bit. If a new update is available, it should automatically download and install. If you’re having issues with the installation, you can try resetting your AirPods.

How to Update AirPods Max

If you own a pair of AirPods Max, new firmware will download if your headphones are connected to Bluetooth via another device like an iPhone.

If you’re unsure if your AirPods are running Apple’s latest firmware, you can manually check. Here’s how to check your AirPods software version.

  1. Grab your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Open up the Settings app.
  3. Tap General.
  4. Tap About.
  5. Find your AirPods on the list and tap.

On this screen you can see information about your AirPods including their current firmware version.

You can also check the current firmware using these steps:

  • Open the Settings app on your Apple device.
  • Go to Bluetooth.
  • Find your AirPods on your list of devices.
  • Tap the “i”.
  • Check the Firmware Version.

Latest AirPods Update

If you’re using a pair of first-generation AirPods, the current version is 6.8.8.

If you’re using a pair of AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2, or a pair of AirPods Max, the current version is 5E135. The 5E135 update arrived in early May.

You can learn more about the contents of Apple’s AirPods updates over on its support website.

AirPods Beta

It’s also worth noting that AirPods beta firmware is now accessible via Apple’s developer program. If you want to try AirPods features before they become widely available, you can do so. That being said, most people should avoid the beta.

Note that you’ll need a pair of AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2, or AirPods Max, an iPhone running an iOS 16 beta, Xcode 14, and a Mac that’s running macOS 13 Ventura beta in order to do so.

4 Reasons Not to Install iOS 16.5.1 & 11 Reasons You Should

Install iOS 16.5.1 for Better Security

Install iOS 16.5.1 for Better Security

If security is important to you, think about installing Apple's iOS 16.5.1 update on your iPhone right away.

iOS 16.5.1 brings two security patches to iPhone users and they're important if you want to keep your iPhone protected from harm. If you want to learn more, head on over to Apple's website.

As for older software, iOS 16.5 brought a ton of security patches to the iPhone. You can find out more about them over on Apple's security site.

iOS 16.4.1 included two security upgrades . You can learn more about the pair right here.

The company's iOS Security Response 16.4.1 (a) update also included security updates, but Apple hasn't revealed them yet and it's unclear if it will.
